HISTORY

About the Zenit-E

Produced from 1965 to 1982 at the KMZ plant near Moscow, the Zenit-E was the most mass-produced SLR in history, with over 8 million units manufactured. Its simple design, paired with the characterful Helios-44 58mm f/2 lens, taught photography to millions of students worldwide. Despite its basic specifications, the Zenit-E's rugged construction could withstand conditions that would destroy more sophisticated cameras.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
