IMAX technology, introduced in 1970 at Expo '70 in Osaka, uses 65mm film running horizontally through the gate at 15 perforations per frame — roughly ten times the area of standard 35mm. The enormous negative captures a level of detail and immersive presence that no other film format can match. IMAX cameras have documented everything from space shuttle missions to Christopher Nolan's most ambitious sequences in Interstellar and Oppenheimer.
RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
Each effect is calibrated to match the real optical and chemical characteristics of the IMAX 15/70.
