HISTORY

About the Kine Exakta

Built by Ihagee in Dresden and launched in 1936, the Kine Exakta was the first 35mm single-lens reflex camera. It introduced the SLR concept — viewing through the taking lens via a mirror and ground-glass screen — that would eventually dominate professional photography. Its waist-level finder and left-hand shutter release gave it a distinctive shooting style unlike any camera before or since.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
