From the Canonet rangefinder to the EOS system, Canon built cameras that defined autofocus SLRs and modern mirrorless.
Canon's journey began with the Canonet rangefinder in the 1960s, offering excellent optics at an accessible price. The company then pioneered the EOS autofocus SLR system in 1987, fundamentally changing professional photography.
The Canon AE-1, launched in 1976, was the first microprocessor-controlled SLR and one of the best-selling cameras in history. The EOS 5D later brought full-frame digital to the masses.
