HISTORY

About the Minolta X-700

The Minolta X-700, introduced in 1981, was the first SLR to offer a fully programmed auto-exposure mode alongside manual and aperture-priority options. It won the European Camera of the Year award and became one of the best-selling SLRs of the 1980s. The MD Rokkor 50mm f/1.7 kit lens was praised for its warm color rendering and smooth bokeh, making the X-700 a favorite for portrait photography.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
