HISTORY

About the Photocopier

The Xerox photocopier, ubiquitous in offices by the 1980s, created a distinctive high-contrast, slightly degraded reproduction aesthetic. Artists from the punk zine movement to fine-art practitioners embraced the copier's flattened tones, toner artifacts, and moiré patterns as a creative medium. RetroCam recreates this lo-fi office-machine look as a photographic effect.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
