About the Canon AE-1

Introduced in 1976, the Canon AE-1 was the first microprocessor-controlled SLR and one of the best-selling cameras in history. Its shutter-priority automatic exposure made photography more accessible, while the FD 50mm f/1.8 kit lens delivered excellent image quality at an affordable price. Canon's aggressive marketing — including the first-ever TV ad campaign for a camera — helped the AE-1 sell over five million units and define the SLR boom of the late 1970s.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
