VHS CamcorderJVC GR-C1, VHS-C Format

The JVC GR-C1, introduced in 1984, was the first all-in-one VHS camcorder — combining camera and VHS-C recorder in a single unit you could carry on your shoulder. VHS camcorders transformed home video from a specialist hobby into a mainstream family activity throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Their characteristic low-resolution, interlaced images with warm color casts and tracking artifacts became the visual language of personal memory for an entire generation.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
