The Holga, originally produced in China starting in 1982, was designed as an inexpensive camera for the Chinese mass market. Its plastic body, plastic lens, and rudimentary controls produced images with heavy vignetting, soft focus, light leaks, and unpredictable exposure — flaws that art photographers and the Lomography movement embraced as creative virtues. The Holga became a symbol of anti-perfectionist photography and the idea that cameras don't need to be expensive to make meaningful images.
RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
Each effect is calibrated to match the real optical and chemical characteristics of the Holga 120N.
