HISTORY

About the Panavision Anamorphic

Panavision's anamorphic lens system, developed in the late 1950s and refined through the 1960s, became Hollywood's signature widescreen format. Using cylindrical lens elements to squeeze a wide image onto standard 35mm film, Panavision anamorphic lenses produce the characteristic 2.39:1 aspect ratio with distinctive blue horizontal lens flares. Films from Lawrence of Arabia to Blade Runner owe their epic visual character to Panavision anamorphic glass.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
