About the Ilford HP5 Plus

Introduced in 1989 as the successor to HP5, Ilford HP5 Plus is one of the world's most popular black-and-white films. At ISO 400 it offers versatility across a wide range of lighting conditions, with characteristic grain, excellent tonal range, and remarkable push-processing capability — many photographers routinely push it to ISO 1600 or 3200 for dramatic results. HP5 Plus has been a darkroom staple for over three decades.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
