HISTORY

About the Kodak Tri-X 400

Introduced in 1954, Kodak Tri-X became the most iconic black-and-white film in photography history. Its forgiving exposure latitude, distinctive grain structure, and rich tonal range made it the default choice for photojournalists, street photographers, and fine-art practitioners for over half a century. Virtually every major documentary photographer from the 1950s through the 1990s shot Tri-X at some point in their career.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
