HISTORY

About the Trail Camera

Trail cameras, widely adopted for wildlife monitoring from the mid-2000s onward, use infrared motion sensors to trigger automatic photo capture of passing animals. Their distinctive look — infrared flash illumination, wide-angle distortion, low resolution, and burned-in timestamps — creates an eerie, surveillance-like aesthetic. RetroCam recreates the unmistakable trail camera look as a creative photographic effect.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
