Sony Handycam Hi8CCD-TRV, 90s Home Video

Sony's Hi8 Handycam series, dominant through the mid-1990s, defined the look of 1990s home video. The Hi8 format offered improved resolution over standard Video8, but the real appeal was Sony's compact, user-friendly camcorder designs. The characteristic warm, slightly soft video with visible interlacing artifacts and auto-exposure hunting became the visual language of '90s family videos, school projects, and early independent filmmaking.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
