The Ricoh GR1, introduced in 1996, established the GR line that would become synonymous with serious compact photography. Its sharp GR 28mm f/2.8 lens, snap-focus capability, and titanium body made it a favorite of street photographers who needed speed and quality in a pocketable form. The GR1's design philosophy — maximum image quality in minimum size — has carried through to Ricoh's digital GR cameras that remain best-sellers today.
RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
Each effect is calibrated to match the real optical and chemical characteristics of the Ricoh GR1.
