HISTORY

About the Pinhole Camera

The camera obscura principle has been known since antiquity, but pinhole photography as an artistic practice dates to the earliest days of the medium. With no lens — just a tiny aperture — pinhole cameras create images through pure diffraction, producing infinite depth of field with a characteristic soft, dreamy quality. The simplicity of the design means anything from a shoebox to a room can become a camera.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
