The Nikon D1, released in 1999 at $5,580, was the first professional digital SLR priced within reach of working photojournalists. Its 2.7MP APS-C CCD sensor and familiar Nikon F-mount body made it the camera that convinced news organizations to switch from film to digital. The D1 proved that digital could meet the speed and reliability demands of professional photography, launching the DSLR revolution.
RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
Each effect is calibrated to match the real optical and chemical characteristics of the Nikon D1.
