MiniDV Camcorder480i Digital Video, Interlaced

The MiniDV format, introduced in 1995, brought digital video recording to consumers and independent filmmakers. Its compact cassettes recorded standard-definition interlaced video with quality far exceeding VHS-C or Hi8, while remaining affordable and portable. Independent films, documentaries, and YouTube's first generation of content were shot on MiniDV, making it the format that bridged the gap between analog home video and the digital revolution.

RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
