The Sigma DP2 Merrill, released in 2012, used the unique Foveon X3 sensor that captured color at every pixel location — unlike traditional Bayer sensors that interpolate color information. The result was an effective resolution of 46 megapixels in a compact body, producing images with extraordinary detail and a three-dimensional quality. The DP2 Merrill was uncompromising: slow, battery-hungry, and limited in ISO, but its image quality at base ISO was unprecedented for a compact camera.
RetroCam recreates this look using real optical data: color temperature curves, aberration profiles, grain structure, and tonal response. The result is a live camera effect that feels authentic, not just a filter slapped on top.
Each effect is calibrated to match the real optical and chemical characteristics of the Sigma DP2 Merrill.
